Between laptops and meetings, take a moment to breathe deeply, get some fresh air, and let the scent of mint and rosemary fill your nose—that’s what our gardening club at IT Sonix is all about. Since its founding in the spring of 2022, it has brought color, life, and a touch of nature to our patio and our daily office routine.
What begins in early spring with a few bags of soil, some packets of seeds, and a healthy dose of enthusiasm transforms into a little green oasis over the course of the year. Depending on the season, cocktail tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, or bell peppers thrive in the raised beds. Alongside them, herbs like parsley, sage, lemon balm, and mint sprout—perfect for a summer thirst-quencher or a fresh lunch sandwich. „It just feels good to pick a few tomatoes right off the vine at lunchtime,“ says one member with a laugh.
Right now, at the end of August, the Gardening Club is at its best. The plants are bearing plenty of fruit, the herb bed has a rich fragrance, and club members meet regularly to harvest, water, or just chat a bit. This benefits everyone else at IT Sonix, too: Anyone is welcome to help themselves, whether for a salad, afternoon tea, or a glass of homemade lemon balm-mint water.
Late summer also marks the beginning of the time when we slowly start looking ahead to the next season. The Garden Club does much more than just plant and harvest. In the spring, we work together to spruce up the patio; in the fall, our activities move indoors, and we take stock: What worked well, what didn’t, and what new things should we try next year? This mix of teamwork, fresh air, and shared joy in small successes makes the club a staple of the annual cycle.
In the end, however, one thing always takes center stage: togetherness. It’s not just about plants; it’s about taking little breaks from everyday life. Amid the soil, watering cans, and tomato plants, moments are created that linger in our memories. And often, a day of work ends quite simply with a cool drink and a smile.
