Last Thursday, our Xperts headed out of the office and into the countryside—and toward new perspectives. This year’s company event took us to Nimbschen Abbey near Grimma. While some got off to a sporty start by bike, the rest of the participants followed by bus. Around 5 p.m., everyone arrived at the hotel, checked in, and had a little time to settle in. The peaceful setting and historic surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for kicking off the evening together.

The event kicked off with a champagne reception in the monastery’s vaulted hall, followed by a barbecue buffet open to everyone. With music by DJ René, cool drinks, and a relaxed party atmosphere, the celebration continued late into the evening—a welcome opportunity to chat outside the context of everyday work and strengthen team spirit.

On Friday morning, the day began individually with breakfast starting at 6:30 a.m. After checking out, everyone met right on time for the „Walk a Mile in My Shoes“ workshop. The idea behind it: In mixed-role teams, everyone was to put themselves in the shoes of someone else within the company—but not themselves. A total of 13 groups were formed, each representing different project and organizational roles. The task was to creatively explore each role: What is its superpower? What does a typical workday look like? What myths surround the role? And: How can the whole thing be turned into a meme?

The results were diverse and showcased an impressive range of ideas: from self-designed posters to poems to audio files in the style of a documentary. Some teams presented their projects at the end—with plenty of humor and creative ideas. This also highlighted their keen understanding of the challenges and unique aspects of each role.

After the workshop, everyone gathered once more for lunch together before heading back to Leipzig—taking with them many new impressions, fresh perspectives, and a stronger sense of togetherness.
