Agile Development of Fleet Management Software at Webfleet Solutions
Our Work: Agile Fleet Management Software at Webfleet Solutions
Fleet management software is not a run-of-the-mill product. It integrates vehicle telematics, real-time data, backend systems, and user interfaces into an ecosystem that manages thousands of vehicles simultaneously. We’ve been developing such systems for over two decades—for companies including Daimler Truck AG, Mercedes-Benz Trucks, and MAN. It is precisely this expertise that we brought to Webfleet Solutions, formerly TomTom Telematics: Over the course of a year, we transitioned the entire software development process behind one of the world’s leading fleet management solutions to agile methodologies.

More InformationKey Areas of Cooperation
Anyone developing fleet management software on this scale operates under conditions that overwhelm traditional planning cycles: distributed teams, high data volumes, continuous releases, and requirements that change with the market. The goal of the collaboration was therefore to transform existing workflows into agile processes and enable Webfleet to benefit from the added flexibility, focus, and transparency. A deliberate decision was made not to implement a pure Scrum framework—instead, each team was to be equipped with agile methods tailored to its specific product scope and technical constraints. The challenge lay in the scope of the transformation and in providing parallel support to multiple development teams at the locations in Leipzig, Berlin, and Barcelona.

What We Brought to Webfleet Solutions
Native App Development
Results of the Collaboration
Webfleet is putting the new process into practice. The coaching has sustainably strengthened all employees’ process and methodological expertise: Webfleet’s in-house Agile Coaches now efficiently apply selected tools and implement methods independently. At the Leipzig location, not only was the software development process transitioned to agile methods, but the entire organizational unit was as well. As a result, the development of the fleet management software now proceeds in cycles that respond more quickly to market demands—and within an organization that actively promotes this way of working.
